Elastance Imaging, LLC is developing technology to detect cancer with audio waves. In March 2019, Elastance Imaging tested a new apparatus for breast imaging which clearly reached frequencies as high as 4,000 Hz in live breast tissue, making the potential for these systems to rival the resolution and specificity of mammography a real possibility, without the discomfort and danger of ionizing radiation.
