Case Western Reserve University is one of the nation's major private research universities, with undergraduate, graduate and professional programs in more than 100 fields of study. Several schools and colleges include research and educational strengths of interest to the biomedical industry. The Case School of Engineering includes seven departments in engineering and applied science and several interdisciplinary centers. The School of Medicine offers a curriculum leading to the M.D. degree, and its pre-clinical departments offer instruction leading to the M.S., Ph.D., and Ph.D.-M.D. degrees in the biomedical sciences. The School of Dentistry offers a curriculum leading to the D.D.S. degree, and postdoctoral training in several dental specialties leading to the M.S.D. degree. The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing offers curricula leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N) degree with an emphasis on acute care, to the Doctor of Nursing (N.D.) degree, to the M.S.N. in several specialty areas, and to the Ph.D. degree in nursing. The Weatherhead School of Management offers instruction leading to undergraduate, professional, and graduate degrees in management and several business specialty areas. The College of Arts and Sciences includes several departments in the sciences that are important to biomedical development and to the biotechnology industry. In addition to these academic programs, the University operates a technology transfer office that facilitates licensing and other aspects of commercializing the results of campus-based research.
