University Hospitals of Cleveland

University Hospitals of Cleveland is an academic medical center serving its community and the nation through patient care, research and teaching. Its main campus includes the University MacDonald Women’s Hospital; Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital; two hospitals dedicated to adult medical/surgical care; and Ireland Cancer Center. As the primary affiliate of Case Western Reserve University’s Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Dentistry, University Hospitals and its academic counterpart form Ohio’s largest biomedical research center. The Research Institute engages in research for the public good, guided by the highest standards of service, innovation, achievement and community. As a hospital-based Institute, the Research Institute focuses on translational research, taking fundamental advances in biomedical research and applying them to improvements in health care. This will be achieved through federally-funded research, sponsored research agreements with the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices industries, and partnerships with academic institutions. The Research Institute places special emphasis on the commercialization of its research discoveries, both to facilitate transfer of these discoveries to the public and private sectors and to contribute to the creation of a vibrant technology and life sciences environment in Cleveland and throughout Ohio.
