Ohio Life Sciences launched in November, 2022 and we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that Ohio will be recognized as one of the most robust and innovative life sciences ecosystems in the country. The momentum this organization and industry have built is exciting, and it’s growing into sustainable economic development and even more life-saving treatments and devices in the years to come. These are successes that our members and all Ohioans can be excited about. Highlights of the incredible strides we’ve made:
Ohio Life Sciences Grows and Delivers More
- A 40% growth in membership, signaled the eagerness of the industry.
- Significant funding was awarded to OLS in the most recent state budget — transformational dollars to activate our life sciences workforce development initiative.
- The Ohio Life Sciences Political Action Committee (PAC) was launched, which will invest in candidates who are champions for our industry.
- 1,400 people engaged in our events across the state.
- The Entrepreneurship Workshop Series educated hundreds of leaders on critical life sciences topics.
- Hundreds of thousands of dollars of savings were delivered to you through our OLS Advantage Program from key partners like Fisher Scientific, CINTAS, IGS, and Marsh McClennon.
- Ohio’s intentional presence was felt at international industry conferences like BIO, Cell and Gene Meeting on the Mesa, JPM, and Advamed’s MedTech Conference.
- A new, $30M Life Science Fund from Rev1 was created.
- New funding, groundbreakings, and facility expansions at companies like Medpace, TOSOH, STAQ Pharma, Andelyn, and American Nitrile created industry opportunities.
- Impressive national rankings were achieved by Cincinnati and Nationwide Children’s Hospitals.
- Ohio landed the federally-funded Midwest Pediatric Device Consortium.
- Much-needed lab space was created at The Ohio State University and Amplify Bio.
- InnoHealth Summit launched bringing together leaders from across the state.
- Clinical trials progressed and approvals occurred at dozens of our life sciences organizations like Sarepta Therapeutics, Sermonix, Invirsa, and Enable Injections.
- The $620 million acquisition of Forge Biologics was a success in sharing the importance of mergers and acquisitions to drive innovation.
… And, we’re just getting started. In 2024, we need your help:
- Schedule 15 minutes with me. Share the great science you are doing — it differentiates our state from others. We are looking for examples of scientific achievement to share with funders, investors, and other life sciences companies.
- Learn more about our advocacy efforts. Help us host local, elected officials and invite us to tour your facilities, so we can all experience the great things that this industry is doing.
- Share the benefits of membership. Encourage the people you work with to join us, to invest in us — both as members and as sponsors.
Continue to help shape a brighter future for Ohio and the world of life sciences.
I look forward to your engagement in 2024!
All my best,
Eddie Pauline
