Research conducted at Cleveland Clinic involves a spectrum of efforts, including: searches for genes that cause heart disease, the use of stem cells to fix problematic bone damage, and the use of special implants to manage neurologic disorders. Cleveland Clinic researchers focus on an array of conditions, including breast and liver cancer, coronary artery disease, heart failure, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and eating disorders. Research at Cleveland Clinic is conducted in laboratories as well as through many ongoing clinical trials. The Clinic’s Technology Transfer office works with researchers to develop and commercialize new discoveries. Cleveland Clinic facilities can be found throughout Northeast Ohio as well as Florida, Canada and Abu Dhabi. The Cleveland Clinic health system comprises eight community hospitals, a children’s hospital for rehabilitation and one affiliate hospital and is accredited by The Joint Commission, the nation’s largest accreditor of healthcare organizations. Cleveland Clinic also operates a network of family health centers that provide outpatient care, primary care, and numerous subspecialties.
