Ohio Life Sciences engages in non-partisan advocacy with federal officials to promote Ohio’s life sciences ecosystem and support its members. We prioritize policies that foster innovation and growth in the life sciences sector, collaborating closely with lawmakers and federal agencies on critical legislative issues.

Driving Investment

The life sciences industry is a growing economic driver in Ohio. We want to ensure that Ohio invests in the life-saving and life-changing treatments developed within our state.

OLS advocates for comprehensive support, including venture capital, SBIR/STTR grants, NIH funding, and state funding to fuel growth and innovation among Ohio companies.

Multi-Cancer Early Detection

  • Allows Medicare coverage and payment for multi-cancer early detection screening tests that are FDA approved and that are used to screen for cancer across many cancer types if CMS determines as appropriate.

HR 5539 (ORPHAN Cures Act)

  • The ORPHAN Cures Act is bipartisan legislation that would amend the Inflation Reduction Act’s (IRA) orphan drug exclusion and incentivize critical follow-on investment into rare disease drug development.

HR 6283 Delinking Revenue from Unfair Gouging (DRUG) Act

  • Beginning in 2026, the DRUG Act would directly target misaligned incentives in the commercial and Federal Employee Health Benefits markets by prohibiting PBMs from tying fees or other types of remuneration to the price of a medicine. Instead, the DRUG Act would require PBM fees to be structured as a flat fee based on the fair market value of PBM services.
